Client(s): Downtown Brooklyn Partnership
We designed a guide to downtown Brooklyn, providing a map of the impressive, but underutilized, belt of parks and plazas between Brooklyn Bridge Park and Borough Hall. These include Cadman Plaza, Walt Whitman Park, the Korean Veterans Plaza, Columbus Park, and various vacant municipal lots and lawns. These spaces have the potential to connect two major tourist destinations, Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Barclays Center, and many neighborhoods in between. We believe these spaces can be re-imagined with lighting and digital wayfinding that links them together in a way that is appealing to residents, tourists, shoppers, students, and local businesses alike. In doing so, the area would become an urban space reminiscent of a college quad, with central gathering spots highlighted.
